Crayola’s Law

This was pretty relevant to my interests.

Crayola’s Law : “The number of colors doubles every 28 years”   Includes a spiffy timeline showing the addition of new colors to the box of crayons over the years.

New Skin – Modern Warfare 2

I really proud of this one. This is a Modern Warfare 2 themed skin that mimics the main menu of the game.  This is the first skin that I’ve done that has broken the base mold and rearranged the menus in a different orientation, and transposed a lot of the layout.  I like the way it turned out.

MW2

Note that this is a premium skin, it is not free. ($19US)
It also requires 1280×1024 or higher (shouldn’t be an issue for most of you).

If anyone has any feedback or questions, please leave a comment!

Downloader Bug

There appears to be an issue with the download script for the SL skins, which I am working to resolve right now. I’ll update this entry when I’ve got it fixed. Hang in tight!

All the downloads appear to be working now, the invalid URL has been corrected. Leave a comment if you’re still having trouble!

Site Update

Anyone who’s returning to the site recently will notice some changes. If it’s been a while since you’ve checked on the skins, you’ll notice that you now have to register to download them. Fret not! Registration is free, takes less than a minute, and I promise not to sell your email to the Russian spambots.

I also do not intend to start charging for any of the skins that are currently free. All the free skins will always remain free, and I will keep adding new free ones in addition to nicer ones that I will charge for. If you have any issues downloading either the free or premium skins please let me know.

If you have a suggestion for a skin, also let me know! If you’d like a special custom job specific to your store, I can do that too! (for a fee)

Phat Loot and Neurotransmitters in WoW

Cool blog on brain chemistry and how it reacts to getting “loot” in WoW.   Very cool blog, has some other interesting articles on gaming and psychology as well.

Enhanced Airline Restrictions

This is just getting stupid.
If our reaction to each accidental plane crash was the same as each attempted or successful act of terrorism, we would be taking each plane out and intimately inspecting every nut and bolt after every single flight. Both kinds of death are in theory preventable. What people must accept is that flying, like life, is never going to be 100% safe.

The overzealous application of manpower and resources being made to the prevention of terrorism is annoying passengers and hurting the airline industry.  Once the DOT finishes its anticipated highspeed rail system, airlines will start seeing an even more massive hit, especially in the Eastern corridor.

New Smartlaunch Skin

A holiday skin is up in the Smartlaunch Skin section for those who want to be a little festive this season. I tried to make it non-holiday-specific, so it should fit for everyone. I gave this one some special attention, as this is the first one I’m going to sell. It’s $20, which I think is petty decent. I normally charge over $100 for a custom skin if someone wants something specific.
Check it out here!
I also changed my WP theme, as the other was badly formatted in sections, and this one handles dropdown menus.
I still intend to put up new free skins, but I thought I’d give this a go to try and pull in some holiday spending money. Let me know what you think!

Dungeons & Dragons Online Goes F2P

I’ve been waiting for some major MMO to try this shift.  There are already more free-2-play MMO’s than you can shake a stick at, but the vast majority where all built that way from the beginning, using a specific strategy that’s already been proven for the most part.

DDO is the first MMO that I’m aware of that has shifted from the traditional western design of $15/month to F2P. And reports thus far are that it’s a resounding success, at least initially.
